Greetings from the Hoosier State!

We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read our letter. We understand the vast range of emotions you must be feeling as you embark on this journey and want you to know that you are continually in our prayers. Our path to adoption has been long and challenging. We do not take this responsibility lightly.

Matt and I have been married for 7 years. We have longed to expand our family but have not been able due to unexplained infertility. We suffered a miscarriage in 2020. We always planned to add to our family through adoption and are excited for this next adventure. Matt’s brother and sister-in-law adopted their son through a foster-to-adopt program. They have been instrumental in helping us along this path.

Matt works for Progressive Insurance as a claims adjuster and I am an elementary computer science teacher. I am also in school working toward my Masters in Library and Information Science. We are very involved in our church. We teach the preschool class of children’s church every other month. I am part of the hospitality team and sing in the choir. Matt helps with technology. We host a small group every month, just doing life together.

Though we have been unable to have biological children, we have been blessed with 2 animals that have captured our hearts. Franklin, the dog, is playful and loves going to the dog park to run around with his friends. Champ, the cat, is loving yet opinionated. They truly act like brothers. We enjoy taking Franklin to doggie days at Victory Field (our local baseball stadium) and the YMCA (for swimming). Champ likes to explore the backyard and lounge in the sun.

We have a lot of family nearby. Matt’s mom lives 20 minutes away. She is retired and has volunteered to help with childcare. Matt’s brother lives in Texas but we regularly FaceTime with him and his family. My parents live 90 minutes away but are regularly in town for our niece’s sporting events and school functions. My brother lives 40 minutes away with his family. We spend most holidays together as one big family. Our niece is 11 years old. She comes regularly for sleepovers and gets mad at us if we don’t see her enough. Our nephew is 6 years old. He says that Matt is his best friend.

We have a great group of friends that have supported us throughout this journey. There are many small children who frequently visit our house. We are regularly asked to babysit and our house has become the most requested place to go after church on Sunday’s.

Matt works a flexible schedule and is based at home. We will be making arrangements for the child (or children) to attend daycare part time when his mom is not available. Our church has a preschool that we are excited to send our own children to. Raising our children in a Christ-centered home is very important to us. We both grew up in Christian homes and it is a vital part of who we are as individuals and a couple. We can’t wait for the day when our child comes to us seeking a personal relationship with God.

We look forward to meeting you and experiencing this journey with you. We want you to know that you are important. Your story is important. We will always share this with the child and make sure he/she knows what a brave and courageous person you are.

You are always in our prayers,

Matt and Carole
