Meet Duncan & Charlotte

Dear Expectant Mother,
Thank you for your courage in choosing life for your child and for reading this letter. We can’t pretend to understand just how difficult this decision is for you, but we want you to know that we are ready to support you right where you are. We know you have many choices before you and are grateful that you would consider our family in your decision. It would be the greatest blessing should you welcome us to be a part of your story.
We are Duncan and Charlotte. There’s so much we wish we could tell you, but hopefully this letter gives you a glimpse into who we are and the love we have to give. You have been in our prayers since we started the adoption process in Arizona back in 2017. We completed our home study and waited for a year in hopes of being chosen by a birth mother, but our faith was truly put into action when we were told by the military that we were moving to Oklahoma and would have to start the process over again. But here we are! Our desire to grow our family through adoption has not changed and neither has our commitment to God and to you. The time we have spent waiting to adopt has taught us a lot, but it has only strengthened our promise to raise our future son or daughter with an appreciation and understanding of your loving sacrifice. We trust in God’s plan in ALL of this- and we know that you will make the very best decision for you and your precious child.
Our desire to grow our family through open adoption is a direct response to God’s mercy and grace towards us as sinners saved by grace. We truly hope that you will not just choose us as adoptive parents, but that you would feel welcomed into our family as well! Please know that we would share photos, invite you to visit, and include you in the big memories if you would be open to it. However, if you choose to take a step back at any point along the way, know that we completely understand that decision as well. You will always be honored and cherished no matter which road you choose to take.
Here’s a little bit about us:
Charlotte was born and raised in Ohio in a family that probably resembles that of many families these days. Her parents divorced when she was young, and from that experience now has a huge heart for people that come from all backgrounds. She truly believes that God’s redemption is for all of us. One of her favorite Bible verses says “Therefore, there is NO condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1. She is thankful that she has a great relationship with both of her parents and gives Jesus all of the credit. As the stereotypical middle child, she felt compelled to break the Midwestern mold & headed West for college. She graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in political science and an engagement ring from her college sweetheart. They were married in the Black Hills of South Dakota in 2013, then she went to work in politics for a few years before becoming a cancer survivor and a stay at home mom. Five years after beating cancer, her doctors now consider her “cured”, and not a day goes by where she doesnt thank God for His hand in her healing. Today, she enjoys early mornings in the garden, chasing backyard chickens with the help of her two young boys, cooking, listening to podcasts, working out and road trips to visit family.
Duncan is a 4th generation Wyomingite with lots of Cowboy pride. Some people might think they grew up in the middle of nowhere, but they might reconsider if they visited Duncan’s old stomping grounds! He comes from a family that despite living fifty miles from town, loved their “neighbors” better than most. His family is humble, kind, hardworking and selfless servants of Christ. Like Charlotte, he’s the 3rd out of 4 kids and has a delightfully rowdy and hilarious family. He serves as a Captain in the Air Force, and has a degree in History Education from the University of Wyoming. He loves college football, hunting, home improvement projects, chicken wings and Texas country music!
Walker is 5 years old & is full of life! He hits the ground running bright & early and has been such an amazing big brother, always helping Mom track down Colt’s lone stray shoe or making him belly laugh in the backseat. He loves riding his bike (no training wheels, he would add), helping Dad in the shop and playing T-ball with his pals. Colt is 2 years old & overflows with joy! He loves capturing old ladies’ attention at the grocery store and the finer things in life like playing cars & pepperoni pizza. They both pray each night for a little brother or sister!
We attend a Bible-believing church that preaches the gospel and welcomes people from all walks of life with open arms. You can rest assured that they celebrate the miracle of life and are overjoyed with each baby announcement. We live on five acres with chickens and a miniature Australian Shepherd named (Lady) Liberty. We have been married eight years, living in six states during that time. We really love living in Oklahoma and are hoping to be here for about the next five years (at least!). We’re old souls and are happiest sitting on the porch or watching college football. We strive to teach our kids the value of hard work and the importance of keeping their word to others. We embrace “real” and don’t really know any other way! As a military family, we believe that home is so much more than just four walls and more about the love we give. We pray that our children would be honest, kind & be bold in sharing their testimonies. We’re here for each other through thick & thin, and that includes you.
We pray that each day would come with the comfort of knowing that nothing catches God by surprise. That means that this season you are currently walking through, this letter before you, and your growing miracle baby is no different. Even on the hardest day, when everything seems upside down, God is still writing your story and His promises remain unchanged. We hope that each day brings you closer to Jesus and the joy only He can bring. He is there with you even as you read this.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” -Jeremiah 29:11
