Meet Corbin & Ashlee

Dear Birth Parent,
Please let me introduce ourselves. My name is Ashlee Hackett and my husband’s name is Corbin. We want to say how greatly we admire your bravery in this time. Because of you, we have the chance to finally become parents!
We knew of each other in high school, but we officially met and started dating my senior year of high school. Corbin graduated the year before. We have been together since 2009. We got married on October 17th, 2015. We started trying to have a baby in early 2018. After a full year of absolutely no luck we went to a fertility doctor. After testing we discovered there is a very slim chance to have our own. We had talked about adoption before any of this ever happened so we already knew what our next step would be. People have asked me how we have dealt with the sadness of not being able to have a baby. Honestly, it is our relationship. We have always been very honest and up front with each other, so we talked and talked. Tears were shed. But we knew God had a plan for us.
We have four nieces and one nephew, ranging in ages from twelve to twenty, so I have been an aunt since I was ten years old. When I held my oldest niece for the first time, I knew then I was meant to be a mom and I could not wait for that day to arrive. We have a great amount of love to give to a child. We expect our lives to become much busier and more active. Seeing them in sports and school I know what to expect. I also work in Sunday school at church in a first through third grade. We are both around kids’ often. Corbin works at Apex Distributing, and I work for my parents from their home. I am fortunate because I will be able to bring our baby with me to work and have help from my mom and sister until they start school.
I believe our relationship (birth mom and adopted parents) should be as open as we both agree on. If you would like an email every month or quarter, I would be happy to update you in the child’s life.
In person meeting, I would prefer 2-3 times a year but again I would like to discuss this with you. I want us both to feel comfortable and in agreement.
I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. – Philippians 4:13
This is such a well-known verse, but it gives so much comfort. Adoption is hard on both sides, but it is also so beautiful. My dad was adopted in the early fifties. Our hearts are ready to burst with the outpouring love we can give to this child… and to you! We thank you for taking the time to read our story and hope it speaks to your heart.
Much love and respect,
Corbin and Ashlee Hackett
