Meet Axel & Christa
First off, I want to tell you thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We also want to thank you for the courageous act of choosing adoption! I know this must be a difficult decision but we are praying for you and your baby!
Next, I want to tell you a little about us. I met Christa at a grocery store we worked at during college. I was the Dairy Manager and she worked in the produce department. I would always find a way to go to the “cheese wall” as this was a part of the dairy department on the opposite side of the store near the produce section, and spend time with her. We got married right after I graduated and moved to Yukon where we have lived for the past 10 years. I work for a uniform rental company as a Service Sales Manager. I have worked for this company since graduating college and love what I do. There are stressful times at work but the people I work with I consider my best friends. My wife started out as a teacher and then made the switch to a nurse, and now works for a children’s hospital. She also loves what she does as she gets to take care of people and spend time with kids.
We currently have 3 dogs that we do everything with! For fun I love to go fishing, golf, and watch football. I am a huge OU fan (Go Sooners!!) and unfortunately a big Las Vegas Raiders fan. The Raiders always find a way to disappoint but hey I am loyal to them! I also am part of a basketball league at a church. I am not very good these days but do enjoy getting out. My wife is part of a book club and is also a “Swiftie”. She is also a big football fan and has won multiple championships in our friend’s fantasy football league. She is the only female in the league but has found a way to win it 4 out of 10 years, its impressive. We also enjoy going to the movie theater, eating at new restaurants and seeing our friends and family.
I will never forget the time Axel came to me and told me that he had been thinking about adoption. We were on vacation in Florida, at dinner, eating shrimp cocktail on the beach. I, initially, was surprised and speechless. We had been trying to conceive a baby for a few years with no luck. Once I gathered my thoughts and saw how serious he was about this, I started to cry. I was so moved by how sincere my husband was about this and quickly got on board too.
One of the most important things to us is family. We have been blessed to live in close proximity to the majority of our family. Axel’s sister, Rebekah, and her family actually live in the same neighborhood as us. We often have dinner, play games and just hangout with them. We are excited to have our little-one grow up so close to his or her cousins.
Although this adoption process is thorough and intense, we just get so giddy and excited with each step. We know that raising a baby will have its challenges, but together and with God we believe this opportunity you are giving us will be the joy of our lives. Axel and I both grew up in God centered homes and will continue that with our child.
I want to end by saying how thankful we are for you and the huge sacrifice that you are making. Since we started on this journey, we’ve been praying for you and your well-being. We recognize how brave of a decision this is and cannot say enough how strong and selfless you are. We hope that you find peace with your decision for you and the baby. Know that we also look forward to a relationship with you and incorporating you into the baby’s life. We will always talk about you with the upmost respect and love. Both Axel and I desire an open placement and are eager to learn your terms and wants of a relationship with our family. Thank you for considering us and know that we can’t wait to meet you.
We will continue to pray for you and your baby.
Christa and Axel
